Election Broadcasts: The Democracy Show

1989 was a year when communism collapsed in the Middle and East European countries marking a new era in world’s politics. For this reason, this unusual exhibition presents over 300 full time broadcasts of election campaigns from all over the world from 1989 till present times. All together though there a 2.800 broadcasts which can be all seen in the interactive room.
This exhibition has now finished, however there is plenty more to see at the Palau de Virreinna!

Contemporary art plays a large role in the culture of Barcelona and you will frequently stumble across small galleries that have a variety of weird, wonderful, unique or just plain different offerings.
There are also in increasing number of museums or exhibition spaces that are being dedicated to the contemporary arts too. Palau de la Virreina is one such place. Located on the bustling, tourist packed La Rambla the space is home to many and varied exhibitions. It has two main spaces Espai 2 which is usually home to contemporary arts exhibitions and Espai Xavier Miserachs in which photographic works are displayed.
Until the 26th October you can catch the colourful ´fotomercé7’ exhibition: a collection of photographs taken during La Mercé 2007 by both professionals and amateurs. La Mercé is always a colourful and exciting time- perhaps it will inspire you to visit again during the September festival, we would certainly recommend it if you would like to see the Spanish doing what they do best: partying!
