Barcelona Weather - Barcelona Apartments and Flats

The temperature and time now, in Barcelona: just one of the many reasons to rent a holiday flat in Barcelona or a Barcelona apartment for your holiday.

What better way to illustrate the weather. This photo was taken 11/11/07. Mid November!!!.
The weather is one of the reasons that so many people come to Barcelona- and often stay for good! The warm summers with the coastal breeze and the mild winters mean it is a lovely place to be all year round. You might see the Spanish wandering round in scarves and coats from early October, but the British will still be wearing their summer shorts, it is mild compared to the winters back in the UK! The wettest month is often October time and then you need to have your 'paraguas' (umbrella) at the ready, as the rain showers are usually fairly short but very heavy. If you want to be prepared take locals advice and look up towards Mount Tibidabo in the morning. They say if it is shrouded in cloud up there it will rain in the city later, but if all is clear, you should be lucky and have some sunshine!
Prepare for the weather!
It is a very British thing to want to keep updated on the weather, but it is useful to know so that you can be prepared for the right conditions: especially if you are only bringing hand luggage for the weekend! We will keep you up to date on the latest conditions and your packing requirements:

4/01/09: Today we have had glorious sunshine again, after some rainy days, where the sun seemed to have forgotten us briefly here in Barcelona. A pre-lunchtime walk by the beach proved to be VERY popular for one and all, from true, hardy sunbathers soaking up the winter sun, to the stream of surfers catching the waves before lunch. Old and young alike enjoyed the bright, bright blue skies (with sunglasses a necessity today!) as they strolled along the promenade or on the beach itself, and were enjoying too the anticipation of what surprises the 3 Kings might bring tomorrow night after the 3 Kings procession through the city.
11/11/08: We have enjoyed a lovely weekend of crisp autumnal weather here in Barcelona. Clear, bright skies made it great walking weather so we headed out on Sunday, up to the fire-watch tower near Cafe de Santa Creu d'Olorda for a walk around. Once we had built up an appitite we enjoyed a real Catalunyan treat: a Calçotada! With spectacualr views, a great atmosphere and even better food La Masia Can Portell was the ideal place for this feast. We at Barcelona FLats would definately recommend you take a trip up there if you can: email us if you want directions or want to make a booking while you are here. The forecast looks set to remain similar for a little while so book a last minute get away and come and enjoy a calcotada yourself! As you can see from the picture to the left, it can get very messy, to the extent they provide you with gloves and a bib...but it is worth it!

4/11/08: What a week it has been here....we have had all sorts of weather. Last weekend keen sunbathers could catch the last of the hot rays down on the beach, yet by mid week we had one of the coldest days yet and a LOT of rain! Brollys were very much the order of the day. It has brightened up though and the forecast is good for the rest of the week with highs of 18 or 19 degrees expected by Friday. So we would like to think positive, but err on the side of caution because when it rains, it really rains so have your waterproofs to hand!
23/10/08: It has been cooler here this week than in the last few, with some showers that have caught us out when we have been running around town! We have now abandoned sandals in favour of more waterproof footwear and have started to reach to the back of the wardrobe for some long sleeve tops. Time to bring your umbrella and some light jumpers if you are coming out to Barcelona over the next couple of weeks! If you have not got a trip planned we have some excellent last minute deals available, as do the flight companies. Even if the weather is cooling down some of the great Jazz gigs that are taking place across the city are sure to warm you up no end!
January 2008: In fact those people who have taken apartment rentals in Barcelona during the last year have done very well. The weather has been good all year and we have had very few days of rain or cold weather. We did have a "vendaval" (gale) in December but this was memorable because it was so unusual. It also only lasted for one day. When it does rain in Barcelona it is usually very heavy for a few hours, or if we are unlucky a day, but then it clears quite quickly. In August it can get a little hot for some but our apartments and flats have airconditioning as do most of the buses, taxis, trains and restaurants.
